Quack Chili Cookoff |
||
Feb 2000 Oh boy, did UCSF go nuts over this one! After this one ran, The Synapse got a passionate letter from a physician about how it shows little respect for the human body. (Letter to be scanned in later.) I also caught some rumors that a couple Vice-Chancellors of UC and possibly Michael Bishop himself were also upset. My reaction: "The Vice-Chancellors read my cartoons? Cool!" Seriously, I was shocked to find that some people actually thought that I was suggesting cooking with body parts was fun. I wasn't making fun of body parts, sillies! I was making fun of pathologists! Pathologists would never be so cool as to hold a chili cookoff... By the way, Dr. Robbins was an author of a fact-packed pathology textbook that still haunts the nights of many a medical student across the country. He probably didn't look like that. If there's anyone I should apologize to about this cartoon, it's him. May his autopsied body rest in pieces. |
