I hate my pager. But I hate people who say, "I like my pager because that makes it easy for people to reach me" even more. More and more I am realizing that the kind of people who go into medicine are the kind of people who take it up the butt and like it. We've got no one to blame for our horrible hours and crappy work conditions but ourselves. And patients suffer because of this misplaced sacrifice.
